That's right, you can already register to get your ballot by mail.  As of this year, Illinois law no longer requires an reason to present a request for an absentee ballot.

Ballots cannot be mailed to you any later than the Thursday before an election. Military personnel and voters outside the country may apply for a ballot earlier.

If you are in Cook County, requests for a ballot can be made via:

  1. Download and print the application, or
  2. Call the Clerk's office at (312) 603-0944 to request an application be mailed to you, or
  3. Pick one up at any of the Clerk's six office locations.

If you are in Lake County, requests for a ballot can be made via:

  1. Fill out the online form, or
  2. By email at VotingByMail@lakecountyil.gov, or
  3. By calling (847)377-2406
