Are you furious at the way the Tea Party movement is portrayed in the main stream media?  Disappointed that our elected officials would intentionally label citizens who are concerned about the direction of the country as “un-American” and racist?  Have you been looking for a way to help the Tea Party movement counter these lies and increase membership and participation?

The Palatine Tea Party group has a chance to reach out to the community by renting a booth at the Palatine Street Fest August 27th, 28th and 29th.   The committment needs to be made in the next few days but we cannot do it unless we have enough volunteers to man the booth all three days.  We would like to handout pocket constitutions, business cards and handouts and ask people to complete a Palatine Tea Party signup sheet.  We’ll also be selling website flags, perhaps some patriot/tea party pins and bumper stickers and collecting donations.

What a great opportunity to debunk the myths that so many have heard about our movement!  Please consider volunteering for a few hours and making yours one of the first faces of the movement that some of the good citizens of Palatine have a chance to interact with.

Please respond no later than June 11th if you're interested. Following are the “slots” that we need to fill.  If you can only do one time slot but are open to different times, please list those by preference.

We can’t make this happen without YOU!

Volunteer 1 - Open

Volunteer 2 - Open

I would be happy to volunteer for the Sat Noon to 3 spot.

However I'd like to have some kind of contact with someone in the organization to confirm this. I haven't made it to a meeting yet but I'll keep trying. I'm not hard to find. - R Black, frostmychaps.com

it looks like we won't be participating in the Palatine Street Fest.  But i'd like to thank all who stepped up to volunteer and invite you all to stop by our table and say "hello" at the July 3rd rally.

If you still need volunteers, my husband and I can cover the Sunday 8/29 shift.

thanks Norma, but we won't be doing the street fest.

if you're coming to the rally please stop by our table.  i'm looking for folks interested in getting more involved over the summer and we head into these very important elections this November.

There were a number of people who said they would man the booth. Why is it that we are not going to be doing this?

More people would have stepped up including me. Can this be reinstated?

hi Bob.  It wasn't a lack of volunteers.  the booths were already filled with invited participants and the guidelines for the nfp booths didn't really fit with the objectives for participating.  i did check on getting a regular booth but it was prohibitively expensive.

i was disappointed as well.

I thought that Joe Walsh volunteered at the Saturday Palatine Library meeting to pay for the booth...

hi Joe,

i don't know anything about mr. walsh offering to pay for a regular booth which is ten times as much as the nfp.  i'm happy to work on this if someone let's me know that it will be paid for.
